Contingency Planning

The Commission plays a crucial role in enhancing regional preparedness through effective contingency planning. It assists member countries in developing, reviewing, and harmonizing their national contingency plans to ensure a quick and coordinated response to desert locust outbreaks and emergencies. The CRC provides technical assistance, conducts simulation exercises, and carries out capacity assessments to identify operational gaps and improve national response frameworks. During emergencies, the Commission coordinates the mobilization of resources—both technical and financial. This includes the rapid deployment of experts, the provision of pesticides and equipment, and the facilitation of cross-border cooperation.
